Sofia de Pahlen is an artist whose work has grown gently from a life shaped by movement across cultures. Rooted in her Italian heritage and informed by her studies in England, France, and Switzerland, her practice reflects an ongoing dialogue between tradition and the present, detail and restraint.
Working within a maximalist language, Sofia approaches texture, detail, and emotion with care, allowing each piece to unfold at its own pace. Her work draws quietly from Italy’s craft traditions, England’s spirit of experimentation, France’s sense of elegance, and Switzerland’s precision, seeking balance and calm even within layered forms.
Alongside her artistic practice, Sofia has spent time working in technology, strategy, and creative fields, experiences that continue to shape her perspective and artistic approach. She co-founded Turtle AR and later worked with MindMaze in roles that connected marketing, product, and creative strategy. Her academic path includes studies in Comparative Literature at King’s College London, Consumer Behaviour at the London School of Economics and Political Science, and an MBA at École Supérieure de Commerce de Paris.
Across both art and professional life, Sofia is guided by curiosity, attentiveness, and respect for craft, for cultural heritage, and for communities whose traditional practices are, without careful preservation, at risk of being lost. Her work, therefore, is shaped by history, memory, and everyday observation, with an ongoing intention to create spaces that combine aesthetics, tradition, and, importantly, humanity.
